I realize I could have at least eaten better and exercised more.&amp;nbsp; Since I have also&amp;nbsp;drank &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/"&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;green tea&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt; for about 10 years, own a wholesale green tea business, and written several &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.davidhayden.com/davidhayden/greentea.aspx"&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;articles on green tea&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;, I start to receive numerous emails during the new year about drinking green tea to help with diet, weight loss, and overall health.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I&amp;nbsp;always begin answering such green tea questions in the same way:&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I am not&amp;nbsp;a doctor, dietician, nutritionist and quite frankly not versed on the matters of health and how to lose weight.&lt;/FONT&gt; 
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;You should always consult your doctor about matters of health&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I am also a skeptic and suspicious of anything that promotes quick and easy weight loss. There are so many people out there that will say and do anything to make a buck, so be careful about what you do&amp;nbsp;to be healthy and lose weight.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;That being said, there have been numerous studies and articles published that suggest drinking green tea may help with losing weight and diet. Here are a few I have mentioned on my site:&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

I don't&amp;nbsp;drink soda pop.&amp;nbsp;If you are into specialty coffees with large amounts of cream and sugar, it can also certainly have less calories. I don't drink coffee either. Green tea may perhaps promote healthy weight loss just because it is not a soft drink with empty calories nor heavy with cream and sugar like most specialty coffees.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;If you do decide to drink green tea, I highly recommend you purchase loose-leaf green tea online as opposed to green tea bags from a store.&amp;nbsp;Loose-leaf green tea&amp;nbsp;is typically of much better quality and cheaper. I have never been impressed with green tea from a store in a bag. It is often green tea dust and of questionable quality.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

I typically purchase fresh fruit and spices separately to flavor the tea. Raspberry green tea is a regular around the house.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;My recommendation is to be careful and use common sense. I think green tea promotes health and can definitely be part of a healthy diet in 2008. As for being a miracle diet aid, I doubt it. Please take care of yourself. There is only one of you!&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;&amp;#8220;It is probably possible to lean an inactive life and still experience healthy aging, but it isn't likely.&amp;nbsp; Maintenance of physical activity throughout life and successful aging go hand in hand; this was one of the strongest correlations found in the MacArthur Foundation's Study of Aging. Almost all of the health seniors I know were physically active throughout life, and many of them still are. They walk, dance, play golf, swim, life weights, do yoga and tai chi.&amp;nbsp;Some of them are more engaged in physical activity than their middle-aged counterparts.&amp;#8221;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I whole heartedly believe that you need to exercise, stretch, and practice &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2006/01/02/2662.aspx"&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;relaxation and breathing techniques&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt; on a daily basis for a number of reasons:&amp;nbsp; &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2005/11/01/2552.aspx"&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;reduce anxiety and stress&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;, keep your joints and muscles healthy, improve circulation, strengthen your heart, and sleep better at night.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;As Dr. Weil mentions, you don't want to over exercise as it could be detrimental to your&amp;nbsp; health.&amp;nbsp; A brisk walk and steady bike ride sound healthier than the rhythmic pounding on your joints when jogging.&amp;nbsp; Stretching before exercise helps circulation and warms up the muscles before exercising, but stretching is important throughout the day just to release bound up energy ( chi ).&amp;nbsp; As a developer who spends a lot of time on the computer, I need to take regular breaks of stretching and meditation to revieve myself and eliminate the negative effects of sitting in a single position for a majority of the day.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="http://davidhayden.com/blog/dave/archive/2006/01/04/2664.aspx"&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Dr. Weil also mentions drinking up to 4 cups of green tea a day as part of healthy aging&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;.&amp;nbsp; I drink 2 cups of &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/" target=_blank&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;green tea&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;&amp;nbsp;in the morning after stretching and tai chi, and then drink 2 cups of &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/" target=_blank&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;green tea&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt; in the evening after additional stretching and meditation.&amp;nbsp; Not only does the green tea have numerous health benefits, but the process of making the green tea and sipping it is very relaxing in of itself.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;For a healthier you in 2006, make a conscious decision everyday to improve your health by planning plenty of exercise ( like walking, yoga, and tai chi ) to improve circulation, strengthen your heart, sleep better, reduce the effects of stress, etc.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

If you don't want all that caffeine or are very sensitive to the stimulant effect of tea, here is a practical tip: caffeine is very soluble in water; tea polyphenols are not.&amp;nbsp; You can remove most of the caffeine from tea leaves by steeping them in hot water for thirty seconds and draining off the water. Then steep the leaves as you would normally.&amp;nbsp; This will not detract from the flavor or antioxidant activity of what you drink. &lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I manage my stress during the day by practicing some brief &lt;STRONG&gt;relaxation and breathing techniques&lt;/STRONG&gt; to reduce the feeling of stress that I found in Dr. Weil's book, Healthy Aging.&amp;nbsp; After completing the &lt;STRONG&gt;relaxation and&amp;nbsp;breathing technique&lt;/STRONG&gt;, I&amp;nbsp;enjoy the moment by brewing and drinking&amp;nbsp;a cup of &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/" target=_blank&gt;green tea&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;You can practice a very simple &lt;STRONG&gt;breathing technique&lt;/STRONG&gt; during the day when you feel a lot of stress.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;OL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Place the tip of your tongue against the ridge behind and above your front teeth and keep it there through the whole exercise.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Exhale completely through your mouth, making a &amp;#8220;whoosh&amp;#8220; sound.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Inhale deeply and quietly through the nose to a count of 4 (with your mouth closed).&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Hold your breath for a count of 7.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Exhale audibly through your mouth to a count of 8.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Repeat steps 3,4, and 5 for a total of four breaths.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;According to Dr. Weil:&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;&amp;#8220;With practice this will become a very powerful means of eliciting the &lt;STRONG&gt;relaxation&lt;/STRONG&gt; response that gets more effective over time. It is a tonic for the nervous system, shifting energy from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic system, with many physiological benefits: lowered blood pressure and heart rate, increased circulation to the extremities and skin, and improved digestion...&amp;#8221;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;I notice that the more I hug and snuggle with my wife and children the happier and relaxed I feel.&amp;nbsp; Any stress or thoughts racing in my mind just seem to melt away. Because I think&amp;nbsp;my&amp;nbsp;emotional state of being impacts&amp;nbsp;my physical state of being, feeling good inside&amp;nbsp;makes me feel&amp;nbsp;and look better&amp;nbsp;on the outside.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;This cup if fine for &lt;STRONG&gt;display green tea&lt;/STRONG&gt;, like &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/green_peony_china_green_tea.aspx" target=_blank&gt;Green Sea Anemone&lt;/A&gt;, or green tea with larger leaves, like &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/dragon_well_lung_ching_china_green_tea.aspx" target=_blank&gt;Dragon Well Green Tea&lt;/A&gt;, but it is absolutely useless for higher quality &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/japan_green_teas.aspx" target=_blank&gt;Japanese Green Tea&lt;/A&gt;, like &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/gyokuro_japan_green_tea.aspx" target=_blank&gt;Gyokuro&lt;/A&gt; and &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/sencha_japan_green_tea.aspx" target=_blank&gt;Sencha&lt;/A&gt;, that have fine leaves.&amp;nbsp; Gyokuro and Sencha green tea leaves plug&amp;nbsp;up the small slits in the bottom of the infuser not allowing the green tea to actually drain into the cup.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;You end up with an infuser full of green tea leaves and water and nothing in the cup.&amp;nbsp; I ended up throwing away several healthy cups of Gyokuro Green Tea trying to solve the problem with no luck.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;When the green tea leaves have finished steeping, simply remove the infuser and enjoy a health cup of green tea.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;If you look closely at the picture above, there are small slits in the bottom of the glass infuser where the green tea escapes and yet the &lt;A href="http://www.relaxsipenjoy.com/tea_specials.aspx" target=_blank&gt;green tea leaves&lt;/A&gt; remain.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;My only complaint about the green tea infuser is that tiny tea leaves can get stuck in the small slits and they are not easy to remove.&amp;nbsp; And although I love the light and thin glass, it seems very fragile and easy to break if you are not careful.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Other than that, I absolutely love the green tea glass cup and glass infuser.&amp;nbsp; Being all glass makes it very easy to keep clean.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Tea, produced from the Camellia sinensis plant, can be processed into green tea, oolong tea and black tea according to the degree of oxidation or fermentation. The major constituents of tea are catechins, which make up 30% of the weight of dry leaves.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;According to Dr Koo's findings, tea can lower cholesterol, prevent atherosclerosis, reduce body fat, maintain body weight, inhibit Helicobacter pylori, fight ageing, improve memory, suppress bladder cancer and increase bone density.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT face=Verdana size=2&gt;Steep Jasmine Pearls in hot water for five minutes.  Add steeped tea to rum in a glass. Add short squirt of fresh lime juice and handful of crushed ice. Top with splash of tonic and garnish with orange slice.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
