TechSmith is down right awesome. I have been a huge fan of Camtasia Studio for the PC, using it to create ASP.NET MVC Screencasts for the Tampa ASP.NET MVC Developer Group and Patterns & Practices Screencasts on PnPGuidance.
The one thing they have been missing is screen recording software for the Mac so I can create these screencasts and training videos on my Apple MacBooks. Well, just the other day TechSmith released Camtasia for Mac, embarassingly simple and intuitive screen recording software for the Mac!
I immediately downloaded Camtasia for Mac and created my first test screencast that included the entire screen and used both my built-in iSight Camera as well as external USB Microphone Headset. It worked perfectly!
My needs are even a bit more complicated as I was recording a Visual Studio walk-thru on Windows 7 in a VMware Fusion virtual environment in Unity Mode! And yeah, it still worked flawlessly. I still need to put it through additional tests, but I am really impressed at how easy it was to record, incorporate camera and external microphones, snap the output recording size to only the Visual Studio Application, as well as incorporate a virtual envirornment.
It has an introductory price of $99, which is completely worth it :)
