This is just to confirm that Windows 7 is a beautiful operating system and is working flawlessly on both of my Apple MacBooks ( 17” MacBook Pro and 13.3” Unibody MacBook ) in VMware Fusion. At this time, there still isn't official support yet for Windows 7 in VMware Fusion as Windows 7 was just released to the technical community and isn't expected to be released to the general public until late October. However, I suspect VMware is working hard on officially supporting Windows 7 ASAP.
I have pretty demanding needs as I am running both Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010 as well as SQL Server 2008 along with a whole bunch of other developer tools in a VMware Fusion Virtual Environment that hosts Windows 7. Therefore, if you are a casual Windows 7 user on a MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, etc., you should be able to run Windows 7 on your MacBook no problem. Obviously the more memory and faster the harddrive the better when you are hosting another operating system and applications in a virtual host.
You can buy VMware Fusion 2 on Amazon right now
for only $34. This is the cheapest I have ever seen it as it is $80 directly from VMware.
Note that you can also pre-order Snow Leopard for $29, which is Apple's new Mac OS X operating system that is about to debut!
A lot of really cool stuff going on right now!
