Tampa SQL Saturday : Presenting SQL Server Data Access Tips and Techniques

TAG: Florida Developer Events

I already mentioned I will be presenting this Thursday for the Sarasota .NET Developer Group on Aspect-Oriented Programming. Well, two days later I will be presenting SQL Server Data Access Tips & Techniques at the SQL Saturday Event in Tampa!

Nothing I love more than to talk about data access to SQL Server, whether it be traditional topics like ADO.NET and O/R Mappers or some of the newer RAD Topics like ADO.NET Data Services and ASP.NET Dynamic Data. I gave a similar talk last year that was well received, but I personally think I spent too much time on ADO.NET Best Practices before jumping into the good stuff. So this year I think I am going to just quickly mention ADO.NET in terms of the Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block and then move into various O/R Mappers and other RAD Development Solutions. So, if you have been sitting by the sidelines for awhile on some of the cooler technologies that have been released in the past year to help with data access, I hope to see you there! Here is the official abstract:

SQL Server Data Access Tips & Techniques

You have optimized and tuned your SQL Server Database and now you need to access the data from your application. Learn and explore the variety of ways you can access the data using the Data Access Application Block, LINQ To SQL, ADO.NET Entity Framework, ADO.NET Data Services, Subsonic, and the ASP.NET 3.5 Dynamic Data Framework. In this session we will walk-thru and build several examples for each technique as well as discuss tips, strengths, and weaknesses. Come with your questions and explore the wonderful world of data access to SQL Server!

You can still register here.

Oh, as mentioned earlier, I will also be presenting at the South Florida Code Camp on Enterprise Library, Unity, and LINQ To SQL.
