iWork '09 from Apple Gets Document Collaboration Integration with iWork.com - Pretty Slick

I use both Apple iWork and Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac for the usual documents, spreadsheets, and presentations mumbo jumbo that is a part of life. This week Apple announced iWork '09 at the MacWorld Expo which have numerous enhancements, but one of the more interesting enhancements is the ease at which one can share and collaborate on Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents via iWork.com.

Each of the applications in iWork ( Pages for word processing, Numbers for spreadsheets, and Keynote for presentations ) has a new iWork.com button where you can effortlessly

  1. Publish the document to iWork.com in a variety of formats
  2. Send an email invitation to interested parties to view, collaborate, and download the document

I have to say it is all very slick. On iWork.com a reviewer can view the documents and leave notes and comments for feedback without a need for having the suite of iWork applications. Since iWork '09 can also open and save Microsoft Office 2008 documents, one can download the Office Version of the file or even a PDF if so inclined.

Given that more and more of us are part of virtual teams spread across the planet these kind of enhancements are pretty slick.
