Download Windows 7 - Clean Install or Upgrade from Windows Vista SP1

Download Windows 7If you are interested in giving Windows 7 a test drive while it is still in beta, Microsoft has made it publicly available to the first 2.5 million users :)

I won't pretend to know much about it since I have downloaded Windows 7 myself yet, but it has to be better than Vista :). Some new features mentioned on the Windows 7 home page are:

  • Improved Task Bar - Allowing you to easily switch between applications with various previews
  • Jump Lists - Getting those recents and frequently accessed items at your finger tips.
  • New Ways to Work with Windows - Simplified moving and resizing of windows
  • Internet Explorer 8 - If you are still using Internet Explorer.
  • Windows Live - Windows Live Messenger, Photo Gallery, Mail, Writer, Movie Maker
  • Better Device Management - Don't have to jump through all the screens as before. Device Stage allows you to interact with them in common ways.
  • Home Group - Simplied home networking.
  • Easier to Share Music and Videos
  • Windows Touch - For those with touch screen monitors.
  • Hand Recognition - Pretty self explanatory.

I recommend Microsoft add Spaces like in Apple Leopard, too.

If you are interested in getting a early look at Windows 7, you can get information on installing and downloading from the Windows Team Blog.
