NVIDIA MCP79 Chipsets Rumored in New Apple MacBooks and MacBook Pros

New MacBooks and MacBook ProsApple is expected to be announcing new MacBook and MacBook Pros tomorrow ( see Apple Announcing New Notebooks \ Laptops \ Netbooks on October 14 ? ) and there are some rumors flying around that Apple may have possibly dumped the Intel chipset for what appears to be the NVIDIA MCP79 Chipset which offers support for the same 1066MHz front side bus, optional DDR3 memory and PCI Express 2.0 interfaces.

There are several advantages to the NVIDIAMCP79 Chipset, according to Apple Insider, such as:

  • NVIDIA's consolidation of all the controller features into a single chip ( smaller footprint )
  • NVIDIA DriveCache uses flash storage to speed up loading times
  • Hybrid SLI to increase battery life in low-demand situations

Tomorrow is the big day!
