I successfully installed Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 last night in several ways:
- New VMware Fusion Virtual HardDisk on MacBook Pro
- Upgrade from Existing Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta and SQL Server 2005
- Uprgrade from Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005
All installations appear to be working fine, but I should probably have taken my own usual advice and waited about a week after everyone else installs the new releases so they can find any bugs and problems :)
You can Download Visual Studio 2008 SP1, Download SQL Server 2008 and Download SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack for yourself.
Upgrading from Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta - Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack Preparation Tool
Most of you have probably already run into this, but if you are upgrading from Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta you will need to remove it first. The install will tell you this if you forget and point you to the patch removal kit, called Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack Preparation Tool, that will uninstall the Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta. You can find it here.
Let it be known that I do not run Vista, but I can attest that the install works fine on Windows XP SP3 in all my environments.
