I absolutely love the iPhone 3G, but after taking it to the pool the other day it feels rather exposed and vulnerable. One little drop of the beloved iPhone 3G at the pool or on the hard tile in the house and I feel it might crack or the touch screen may scratch. I thought it might be time to find an iPhone 3G Protective Case and optionally a Protective Film over the screen to keep it from getting scratched. I should have picked one up at the Apple Store, but I was surprised they even had an iPhone 3G in stock when I showed up.
Anyway, I did a bit of surfing around the Internet for vendors that make cases and protective films for the iPhone 3G and came across the following in alphabetical order:
- Agent 18 - EcoShield for iPhone 3G. The case is made of a thin and lightweight hardshell Eco plastic and available in in Black, White, Pink, Blue, and Green. Easy access to the controls on the iPhone 3G, camera, and various connectors. Costs $29.95
- Belkin - Sports Armband for iPhone 3G as well as various leather and acrylic cases anywhere from $25 - $35.
- Griffin Technology - Quite an assortment of silicone and leather iPhone 3G protective cases - Wave, Nu Form, FlexGrip. Decent prices.
- iLuv - Hard case for the iPhone 3G and available in black, white, and two-tone silicone pink or blue. It also comes with a protective film for the iPhone touch screen. Costs $25.00.
- incase - Leather and Neoprene Sleeves, Leather Folios, and Injection Molded Protective Cover for iPhone 3G. Protective Cover is available in Black, Rose, and Orange. No Protective Film. Costs $29.99.
- iSkin - revo2 for iPhone 3G. This is probably the one I will buy :) Silicone iPhone 3G case available in Red, Blue, Frosted, and Black. Antimicrobial Protection. Covers for your docking and earphone ports. Grip texture. iPhone 3g Screen Protection. Costs $39.99.
- Marware - Sportsuit, Sport Grip, and various C.E.O leather protective iPhone cases from $25 - $35. Sells iPhone 3G Protective Film for $7.
- Noreve - More Leather Cases for Apple iPhone 3G at $39.99 and $49.99.
- Orion Gadgets - Silicone Skin Cases for iPhone 3G in a wide variety of colors from $9 - $12. They even have Tie-Die iPhone Cases :)
- Speck - The iPhone 3G ToughSkin rubberized case looks like you could take it to war. They have SeeThru and PixelSkin varieties, too.
Overall, I really like the look of the revo2 for iPhone 3G by iSkin.
Either way, the prices for the protective cases and films for the iPhone 3G are pretty good considering how much one ends up using the iPhone 3G all day. A worthy investment.
