iPhone Apps - NetNewsWire for Reading RSS Feeds

I mentioned awhile back that I switched from using Mac Mail to NetNewsWire. One of the primary reasons being that there is no way to export your rss feeds from Mac Mail.

Now that I have an iPhone, however, NetNewsWire makes complete sense as my RSS Feeds Reader because there is now a NetNewsWire iPhone Application. I can now synchronize my news feeds between my Mac Book Pro and iPhone. I actually find myself reading more blogs and being much more productive by reading them during my down time on my iPhone.

NetNewsWire for the iPhone recently came out with a 1.0.7 Release ( Apple says 1.1, but it is actually 1.0.7) that is quite handy in my opinion and does exactly what most people would want it to do.

For example, below are a couple of snapshots from my iPhone showing the Patterns & Practices Guidance RSS Feed. It shows only the 2 news items I haven't read yet and I am able to navigate to the feed and get their titles:

The two articles in question are the ones I just wrote today:

If they don't interest me I have the option right there to “Mark All as Read.” Now, hey, these are obviously interesting posts :), so of course they interest me. Therefore, I have the ability to view the post and, what is really nice, view it in Safari, Email It, and Add to Clippings, etc.

In general, the NetNewsWire for iPhone rocks. You will have the obvious power RSS Users who will want additional functionality. However, for most people, NetNewsWire for iPhone v1.0.7 is awesome for reading news. I now read most of my blogs via the iPhone.
