Building Great AJAX Applications from Scratch Using ASP.NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008 - MIX 08 Presentation
by David Hayden, Florida ASP.NET Web Developer
Brad Abrams hit a homerun with his MIX 08 Presentation on Building Great AJAX Applications from Scratch Using ASP.NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008.
I watched the video and was really, really impressed with his coverage of:
- Visual Studio 2008 CSS and Style Sheet Management
- LINQ To SQL Basics
- Introduction to the new ListView and DataPager Controls in .NET 3.5 Framework
- Using the ASP.NET AJAX Server-Side UpdatePanel and UpdateProgress Controls
- Client-Side AJAX Calls using JavaScript to WCF Services
- Use of the AJAX Control Toolkit for a Richer User Exprerience
- Switching Between Internet Explorer and Firefox / FireBug
- Demonstrating a ScriptCombining Feature that will be released in a .NET 3.5 SP1 it seems
A nice and realistic list of AJAX Website Features demonstrated on-the-fly that one would want to use in a real-world application.
He even posted a great summary of his talk as well as provided the sample code for download on his blog. Still, I would watch the video because he does a great job of walking you through building the ASP.NET AJAX Web Application piece-by-piece.
