I love sample applications that show off a number of cool AJAX and .NET 3.0 / .NET 3.5 Framework Features.
There is a sample AJAX Web Portal, called Dropthings, that comes complete with source code and a book you can purchase separately to learn how to create an AJAX Web Portal. Dropthings is a sample application using a number of newer technologies:
- ASP.NET 2.0
- ASP.NET AJAX (.NET 3.5)
- Linq to SQL
- Linq to XML
- Workflow Foundation (.NET 3.0)
- Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005
I would check out the source code on CodePlex and start from there.
