Green Tea Anemone - China Green Tea from Anhui Province - Tribute Tea

Green Tea Anemone is one of my absolute favorite china green teas for evening tea drinking.  Often times you will see it referred to as Green Sea Anemone, Green Peony, or Lu Mudan.  Green tea is skillfully crafted (hand-tied) into rosettes by tea pickers in a small farm in the China Anhui Province.  It is often called Green Sea Anemone due to its anemone-like appearance after it unfurls while steeping.

I prefer it mainly at night, because it has a subtle, soothing flavor for evening drinking and it is very easy on my stomach.  The more chlorophyll-rich green tea, like Gyokuro and Sencha, for example, tend to upset / irritate my stomach during the evening hours.  Green Tea Anemone is perfect on an empty stomach and late at night.

Green Tea Anemone can also never be over-steeped.  No matter how long you steep it, it never goes bitter.  Therefore, if you are new to green tea, you cannot screw up a cup of Green Sea Anemone.  This is probably the perfect tea for your first green tea party.

Green Peony is also easy to serve as it comes as a rosette.  There is no measuring needed and a strainer is unnecessary.  The leaves stay in rosette form.  You can literally pour the tea off the rosette with no concerns over leaves in your green tea.  This makes it a perfect green tea for traveling and when you don't want to bring your tea equipment.

I highly recommend having some Green Tea Anemone on hand at all times when you are looking for a subtle, smooth green tea - especially during the evening.
