Perfect Cup of Gyokuro Green Tea - Color Clarity Temperature and Flavor

This morning I brewed the perfect cup of Gyokuro Green Tea.  It has that distinct yellow-green (or lime green) color with absolutely flawless clarity and a thirst quenching hint of vegetal tones in the flavor.  The temperature was absolutely perfect - cool enough to sip, yet hot enough to provide a warm sensation throughout my body.

Obviously you have to start with high quality gyokuro green tea or none of this is possible.

But there was more than just good quality gyokuro green tea at work here.  I strained it perfectly, such that not even a speck of loose-leaf green tea leaves wandered into the cup.  The clarity of the green tea was flawless.

Brewing temperature and timing must have been absolutely spot on, because the flavor provided that thirst quenching experience, which I typicall love about the high quality teas from Japan - Gyokuro and Sencha Green Tea.  No tannins, just that hint of vegetal, healthy taste.

Temperature was perfect.  As with all green tea, you never boil the water.  Pull the water of the heat source as the steam starts to curl off the water.  Hit that brewing time where the water is still “hot”, most of the catechins ( healthy antioxidants ) have passed into the brew, yet no tannins and off-flavors are emparted due to over-brewing.

This perfect cup of Gyokuro Green Tea started the day off right.
