ASP.NET Personalization - Website Personalization - HTTP Modules - User Profiles

I have NOT seen a lot of ASP.NET websites (and websites in general) that use personalization to a large degree. By website personalization, I mean the ability for users to customize the look of the website to their preferences and save those settings.

We will definitely see a lot more of this with the release of Visual Studio 2005 (new name for the next release of Visual Studio) and ASP.NET 2.0, because personalization, themes and skins, and web parts and web zones are built into the framework.

A recent article has been published that discusses personalization in depth that can be used now:

Personalization in ASP.NET 1.1 by Dino Esposito in the MSDN Magazine.

The article also discusses HTTP Modules, because Dino is pulling off the personalization features by creating an HTTP Module.

This is a great article and one I recommend.
